up, up, and away

When you think about it, isn't it absurd for grown men and women to climb into a tiny basket tied to a flamethrower, and rise into the sky just to see where the wind might take them?

Or, is it a beautiful act of faith and wonder and simplicity?

I'd rather watch the beauty from the ground. I don't think my stomach could handle it. ;)

Your one picture and Pete's 15 pictures turned out great! :) Thank you so much for making the trip up, it was wonderful to see you both.

I've done it twice and loved it. We took R's dad both times. The first was a short trip because the winds were not favorable. A few years later, when we asked what he wanted to do for his 87th birthday, he chose another balloon ride, and so we spent an entire evening in the sky south of Rochester. It was wonderful.

Did I ever tell you that I once rode in the biggest hot air balloon east of the Mississippi?

LOL...at THAT time, it was the largest hot air balloon east of the Mississippi. It also flew the fastest, highest, and farthest. I am still very jealous!

Alas, we did not go up, but Pete regaled us with stories of his grand trip in the largest, most colorful balloon east of the Mississippi (at the time).

Anna & Theron -- thank you for a wonderful visit!!!! We loved seeing you.
