Box of....?

I am terribly lucky. I have had the lovliest 30th birthday ever thanks to my wonderful family and friends. I must give special thanks to P for the most ingenious birthday present ever.

Apparently, unbeknownst to me, he had not only planned me a birthday party the day before my birthday, but found a way to surprise me that did not involve hyperventilation and tears
(a la my 27th surprise bday-20-people-hiding-in-my-bedroom). He contacted many of my very close friends and family asking them to send me a letter, card, or postcard for my birthday that told me how I was special to them. Needless to say, I cried for an hour straight reading all of the wonderful notes and cards I received. Upon opening the box, I honestly didn't realize what the letters were at first, as I didn't think I even knew that many people.

It was so touching to hear all the different voices of the many people I love come across in these letters in their own very distinct ways. There were top ten lists that made me laugh, letters that moved me to tears, letters from other countries, letters in other languages, photographs, origami notes, a velvet Elvis card, stickers/stamps and bat drawings, and most of all the most beautiful notes and messages I have ever received.

To all of you who took time out of your very busy lives to write to me: thank you so much. This has been the best birthday simply because of this box of love! Most of all, thank you to Pete for this most perfect surprise....

To lighten up this recap, the celebrations also involved:

Tiny KickAss Cupcakes (no, that's the actual name):
ginger & mojito flavors. Pete snuck out to get them.

Surprise flower delivery
(Thank you, T!)

Clementine mimosas, on the couch, in pajamas

There were so many gifts and surprises, I'm just so surprised and overwhelmed (C, B&B, H family, M&D...). Thank you, thank you, thank you.

With much love and gratitude for my luck to know you all,
